《KAIST Future Strategy 2020》 is the sixth result of the National Future Strategy Report published by KAIST Moon Soul Graduate School of Future Strategy/Future Strategy Research Center since 2014. In 2020, it is expected that a variety of ‘fusion’ discussions between humans and technology will begin in earnest, beyond ‘connection’ such as collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence. What services will technological change create, and how will new services change the landscape of the industry and ultimately the way of life? How is the world responding to change and what should we focus on? 《KAIST Future Strategy 2020》 aims to provide a solution to this question. In particular, this book tried to diagnose 2020 with the eyes of the future, considering both the vertical perspective of the time flow of technological development and the horizontal perspective that crosses East and West. The book is largely composed of two parts. In Part 1, under the subtitle “Technology meets humans,” the current status of the development of representative ICT technologies and the ethical and institutional issues surrounding them were examined, and furthermore, how technology affects human working methods and lifestyles was analyzed. In Part 2, strategies for Korea to seize opportunities in the midst of these changes are addressed in Society, Technology, Environment, Population, Politics, Economy, and Resources. I divided it into categories and named it STEPPER strategy after each initial letter. As before, this report aims to avoid predictions and interpretations centered on minority elite scholars, and to capture a comprehensive perspective through sharing and discussion. Accordingly, it was completed through the joint work of many experts by repeatedly reviewing and revising and supplementing the subject drafts.
